The Southern most state of India, situated in the Malabar Coast, Kerala, has a shape of an elongated narrow strip, touching the Arabian Sea to the West, Karnataka to the North and North East and Tamil Nadu to the South and South East.

With a total area of 38,863 sq. kilometers, Kerala is a coastal state, with huge production of Coconut.

Thiruvananthapuram is the Capital city, which is popular for its coastal hills. With 14 districts, Kerala is making a lot of progress in its economic and urban value. Kochi is the largest urban agglomeration, while Kozhikode, Kottayam, are other major districts. These 14 districts are further divided into 62 taluks, 999 revenue villages and 1007 gram panchayats. On the basis of geographical and cultural similarities these districts are grouped into Northern Kerala or Malabar, Central Kerala or Kochi Region and Southern Kerala or Travancore.

The state has the highest literacy rate in India, 94.59 %, and the total population is 33,387,677. The language spoken in the state is Malayalam, and it has one of the best tourist sectors in the country, with its popular backwaters and tropical greenery.

The state is acknowledged for its rich heritage and cultural acknowledgments, like the Indian Classical dance forms, Kathakali and Mohiniattam, which are recognized around the World now, and even the traditional Carnatic music has a worldwide appreciation.
