Arunachal Pradesh shares borders with Burma (Myanmar) in the east, Bhutan and Tibet in the north. Known as the "Land of the Rising Sun", Arunachal Pradesh finds mention in the literature of Kalika Purana and Mahabharata. Lush green forests and deep river valleys with thousands of species of flora and fauna are a common sight in the state.
The numerous archeological remains scattered widely around Arunachal, bear testimony to its rich cultural heritage. The people are simple and hospitable and celebrate colorful festivals which boast of a glorious heritage.

The interesting places to visit in Arunachal Pradesh are:

Itanagar
The capital of Arunacahal Pradesh, Itanagar is well connected with the rest of the country by road and air. The official residence of the Governor, the Rajbhawan is in this city. The places to see in and around Itanagar are many. The legendary emerald-green Ganga Lake (Gyakar Sinyi Lake) is a beautiful picnic spot. The Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum offers the art and crafts of all the tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. Bomdila
At an altitude of 2530 m, the town of Bomdila is the headquarters of Arunachal's West Kameng district. It is famous for carpet weaving. Breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, terraced fields and waterfalls is truly amazing. The presence of Buddhist monasteries reflects the belief of the local inhabitants in Tibetan Buddhism.

Tawang Monastery
The largets Buddhist Monastery in India is located in Arunachal Pradesh at an altitude of 3050 m. This fortified complex covers an area of 135 sq. meters and was founded by a lama from Merak (Bhutan). Within the complex there are 65 residential buildings and 10 other structures. The ancient and valuable Buddhist manuscripts, mainly Kanjur and Tanjur can be accessed through the library.

Ziro
Lying in a large flat valley, surrounded by low pine-covered hills is a picturesque town in central Arunachal Pradesh. A unique method of cultivation that combines rice gowing with pisciculture is practised by the Apatani tribe in this area. Also, three other areas of Daporijo, Along and Pasighat, lying north-east of Ziro, offer scenic views.
