Discover Leh Ladakh India


This is an exquisite package for people who would love to discover Ladakh- the land of endless discovery. This package is distributed over 7 to 9 days depending upon the time, interest and budget of the tourists.

Day 1 : Arrival in Delhi

Day 2 : Delhi to Leh
We would reach Leh by an Indian Airlines flight. Leh is the main centre of Ladakh. With a population of 50,000, Leh is a small valley located in the north of Indus valley.It is advisable for the tourists to take complete rest for the proper adjustment to the high altitude atmosphere.

Day 3 : Local Sight Seeing, Leh to Lamayuru, Likir / Alchi & Ule Tompo
A complete day is dedicated for the local sight-seeing with inclusions of the following:
  • Lamayuru : After exploring villages around this area, it is surprising  to find that Lamayuru is a scruffy little place.
  • The Gompa, is completely overshadowed and the most famous spectacular monastery in Ladakh.
  • Alchi and Likir Monasteries : These monasteries are located near Saspol on the Srinagar-Leh road. They have many huge clay statues of Buddha in various forms. The main attraction of these monasteries is their 1000-years old wall painting which makes a visit more than worthwhile.

Day 4 : Alchi to Leh
On our way back, there would be sight seeing of Rizong and Spituk for around 7 hours.
We would have an overnight stay at the Ule Tompo.On our way back, the tourists would be made to visit few more Gompas.

  • Rizong :About 6kms along a steep and rocky track from the main road, starts the area with the nunnery of Julochen and the Gompa of Rizong. This gompa belongs to the Gelukpa.

  • Spituk Monastery :Just before Leh, right on the Srinagar-Leh road hilltop, overlooking the Indus, is the Spituk monastery.It showcases not only some prized tankha, but also a chamber with a gigantic statue of Kali, whose face is are unveiled only once in an year. The chamber also contains an ancient collection of face masks. It is suggested to visit the monastery on the day of the Puja. It is only 10 kms from Leh and is a house to 135 yellow capped monks.

Day 5 : Shopping and Cultural programmes
In the evening there would be a cultural dance of Ladakh called Ladakhi Dance. The whole day would be dedicated for shopping and discovering new and interesting things about the Ladakhi art and culture.Also we would be visiting the Tibetan refugees camp Choklamsar, Library and Ecological Development society etc.

Day 6 : Local Sight seeing
The local sight seeing would also include Leh Bazaar, the Leh Palace and the Sankar Gompa.Next would be the women's vegetable market in the afternoon and some interesting places to visit.In the evening, we would pay a visit to the Sankar monastery.

  • Leh Gompa : It is located above the Leh Palace and was built in 1430. It has a 13.7 metres high statue of the Buddha which is popularly known as Chamba. As per the Lamas, this gigantic statue is the future Buddha. There is a butter which burns all day and night in front of this splendid statue.

  • Sankar Gompa : Only 3 kms from Leh is this monastery that has an exquisite collection of miniatures of pure gold and a number of exciting paintings. It is well lit area and can be visited in the evening as well.

Day 7 : Optional :Leh to Khardung-la top
Two more days will be required if the group would want to go to Nubra valley.
The tourists would visit the Khardung-la. It takes you to the highest motorable road in the world of Khardongla (18,380 feet or 5,578 m). Nubra Valley lies in the north of Leh. Apart from the trekking opportunities, the valley has several Buddhists monasteries such as Sumor, Tigar and 350 years old Diskit monastery.


Day 8 : Leh to Delhi
Fly back to New Delhi by an Indian Airlines or Jet Airways flight and advance for the hotel in Delhi.

Day 9 : Depart for home
