Kashmir Houseboat Package

Destinations covered : Delhi - Sringar - Sonamarg - Pahalgam - Gulmarg - Delhi

Day 01: Arrival at Delhi

Arrive at Delhi and get taken to the hotel on the first day of your tour. In the afternoon join a sightseeing trip of this historic city. The trip will include the famous tourist attractions of Delhi namely Red Fort, Jama Masjid, India Gate, Qutab Minar, and Laxmi Narayan Temple.

Day 2: Reaching at Srinagar

After an early breakfast catch your flight to Srinagar, where pickup will be waiting for you to take you to your houseboat.  Get refreshed and recharge your batteries for an afternoon jaunt, which is cruising in Dal Lake on a shikara. Visit the famous floating flower and vegetable gardens of Srinagar. En route visit a walnut woodcarving factory and also witness a demonstration of papier-mâché making techniques.

Day 03: Trip to Mughal gardens

On the third day of your tour visit the famous Mughal gardens- Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh. Both are located 12 kms and 15 kms, respectively, from Srinagar at the bank of Dal Lake and Zabarwan Mountains at the backdrop. 
Asif Khan, brother-in-law of Jehangir set up Nishat Bagh in 1632 AD and Shalimar Bagh was designed by Jehangir for Noor Jehan. Both the gardens are magnificently designed and offer a vibrant display of local flora and fauna. Also visit a carpet-weaving factory on the way back. Spend the night at the deluxe houseboat with dinner.

Day 04: Srinagar to Sonamarg

The distance of Sonamarg from Srinagar is about 83 kms and will take almost 2-1/2 hours to reach by car. Sonamarg lies in the valley of Sindh and is gifted with abundance of natural beauty, which makes the trip to this destination an exhilarating experience. Enjoy trekking near the high altitude lakes of Himalaya. Return from Sonamarg and spend the night in deluxe houseboat.

Day 05: Trip to Pahalgam

Pahalgam is known as the valley of shepherds and it also happens to be the home of famous trout fishes of Kashmir. Pahalgam is therefore a must visit destination for fishing enthusiasts. However, fishing licenses are hard to get and often expensive. Moreover, one needs to comply with the am guide and can only catch the maximum daily quota of six fishes. 

Nevertheless, Pahalgam is worth visiting simply because of its breathtaking beauty. Drive through the vast expanses of saffron and rice fields. Visit the ruins of Awantipura, which was a temple of Lord Vishnu built by King Awantiwareman 1100 years ago.  Also enjoy a drive through the pine forest along the banks of Lidder River. The total distance of 140 kilometers will take about 4 hours to complete.

Drive back to Srinagar to spend the night in deluxe houseboat.

Day 06: Journey to the meadow of flowers, Gulmarg

Gulmarg, the meadow of flowers, is located 2730 meters above sea level. The 60 kms distance from Srinagar can be covered in about 2 hours by car.  The place is known for its world famous ski slopes and also for having the highest 18 holes golf course of the world.

One can also catch the breathtaking view of Nanga Parbhat from Gulmarg on a sunny day. The journey from Tangmarg to Gulmarg is a memorable experience. You can also enjoy a trekking expedition up to Khilangmarg. The distance can be covered in 3 to 4 hours.  Chair lift facilities are available for tourists incapable of climbing heights.

Return to Srinagar at evening to spend the night in deluxe houseboat.

Day 07: Shopping at Srinagar

Srinagar is famous for its intricate and handcrafted wooden items and woolen garments.  You can also shop for carpets, jewelry and shawls, especially the Pashmina ones.  

Day 8: Sringar

Your trip concludes on 8th day and after a hearty breakfast you’ll be taken to the airport to continue your journey further.
