There is always one central charm associated with every place. The way we can not imagine Goa without a beach, Kashmir without Dal Lake or Paris without Eiffel Tower, similarly we can't imagine a Rajasthan without desert, or Camels for that matter.
The sandy locales of desert Rajasthan make it very difficult to walk to distant places, in such a case we have “ the ship of desert”, the camels to our aid, which enables us to cross long distances and that too in quite an entertaining way. Considering the demand and popularity of these highly enjoyable camel rides and the way they have become a rage and preference with the tourists, many travel based dealers and even Rajasthan Government has introduced Camel Safaris in the state, covering places that are desert.
There are various packages that are introduced under this scheme, with itineraries as long as 2 days or 7 days. The Great Thar desert of Rajasthan can't be easily covered on foot or on any other ride, so it becomes very important to take a camel safari. The hight and the sight, that you get to enjoy, and even though bumpy, still pleasurable, the camel rides of Rajasthan is an integral part of Rajasthan tour.
Safari in the Thar
You can have the best camel safaris in the areas of Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Pushkar and Runn of Kutch, which borders Gujarat also, because of the sand treasure that stretches as far as your sight allows you to see.
The Routine of the Safaris
The safari covers 25 to 30 km in a day in case it has to cover a 10 day long itinerary, and rest for the rest of the day, during which you are provided with proper accommodations, either small bed and breakfasts or tent camp sites, depending on the availability of places in the packages involved. There are proper arrangements of food, drinks and comfort in the accommodations and also night time bon fires are included, on the golden sands under the moonlit sky.
