The Ridge:
A very lively and happening place in Shimla, where not only some of the main buildings, offices and restaurants would be available, infact you would also find a lot of exciting activities here, like ice skating during winter season. Have a visit.
 
The Mall:
One of the main tourist attractions in Shimla is this plaza cum shopping center cum hub of activities. Here, not just some of the best attractions are located, namely the Viceregal Lodge,  but some amazing shopping can also be done. Just roam around the place, and feel the liveliness of it and the gaiety of the people.
 
Viceregal Lodge:
An exquisite building made in the Victorian style, this is also popular among the local people as Rashtrapati Niwas. Located at the Mall, this is quite a memorabilia of the British Raj, and is surrounded by beautiful lawns and mountain views.
 
Dorje Drag Monastery:
Shimla also offers you a taste of Buddhist culture through the Dorje Drag Monastery, which is located at the Saraswati Garden Estate, and is an epitome of Tibetan culture. It is built in the Nyingma tradition of the Tibetan Buddhists.
 
Tara Devi:
It is very famous hill in Shimla, which got its recognition because of the old Tara Devi Temple located on the hill top. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, and you can stroll around in the gardens of the temple complex and watch the flower beds it maintain.
 
Recreational Activities:
An amazing place that caters to the requirements and temperaments of the tourists in the best possible way, Shimla has many recreational activities to offer. You can go on a splendid trek up the hill, to enjoy beautiful views, or simply for the thrill of trekking, or you can also hire a pony for a pony ride. Do not forget to visit the museums and art galleries in Shimla, where you will be able to trace the history and culture of the place perfectly. Also give a shot to the only but amazing amusement park in Shimla, known as Hip Hip Hurray Amusement Park, which offers rides, sports, adventure and some amazing memories on a  Shimla holiday. Shopping in Shimla:
Mall Road, Lakkar Bazaar, shops at the Ridge and the emporiums scattered in the entire hill station are some of the best places you can have a shopping at. Along with some amazing Tibetan articles, woolen items, handicrafts, you would also be able to buy tea, spices, and some really nice jams and jellies here. Some popular and crafty wooden items are also to shop for. Some of the popular stores in Shimla are Dockers San Francisco, Minchys, and Minerva Book House.
 
Best time to visit Shimla:
Though this is one hill station which is popular and visited throughout the year, by both national and international tourists, Summers wold still be undoubtedly the best season. If you prefer the snow cladded mountains and skin biting chill then you are welcome even in the winters, but the months of March to June are some of the most liveliest months you can spend in Shimla.
 
How to reach Shimla:
By Air-
Shimla has an airport at Jubbarhatti, which is not as efficient in its services as the Chandigarh airport, which are 22 and 120 k ms away from Shimla, respectively. The distance from Chandigarh to Shimla can be covered far easily than from Jubbarhatti to Shimla, because of the former's comparatively better roads. 
 
By Train-
Many express trains are there directly to Shimla, from different parts of the country. You would find very comfortable and fast rides from New Delhi , like Shatabdi Express which will reach Shimla in just 4 hours.
 
By Road-
You can also reach the destination through tourist buses, which will cover the journey in very delightful manner, showing you all the beautiful views. You can hire rented cars, taxis, or cabs as well.
